Friends of Sequoya Library Book Sale (6672 Odana Road)

This sale takes place at the Friends of Sequoya Bookshop, 6672 Odana Road.
On the first Saturday of each month, Friends of Sequoya Book Sales take place at our shop located at 6672 Odana Road in Market Square (next to Play-it-Again Sports). Some months also have a "bonus" sale on third Saturdays!
Masks are welcome but not required.

Free Comic Book Day

Madison Public Library will celebrate Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 4. We will have free comic books available at all nine of our library locations to celebrate, so stop in to get free comics for all ages while supplies last. Thank you to Capital City Comics for helping us source the comic books!

Engaging with books, songs and playful experiences all help children develop communication skills, patience, empathy, and pre-reading skills and helps to build a lifelong love of reading. Practice speaking, reading, and writing English with Literacy Network. Beginning to intermediate students are welcome!
Spring 2024 classes are January 27 - May 4, Saturdays, 10 am - 12 pm, in-person at Literacy Network, (701 Dane Street, Madison WI, 53713). The Literacy Network is across the street from the Goodman South Madison Public Library. March 9th and April 13th classes will meet at the Goodman South Library.
This class is free for students 18 years old and up living in Dane County.

Saturday May 4th, 11am-12pm: Brass Knuckles Quintet and Percussion
Brass Knuckles is a five to six piece brass ensemble proudly centered in Madison, Wisconsin. The group is extremely versatile, playing music of many different styles to suit the diverse events they are called to perform. From renaissance madrigals to jazz, Bach fugues to contemporary pop charts, Brass Knuckles has something for every audience.

Our friendly, experienced writing coaches are happy to help with writing projects across a wide range of genres, including resumes, cover letters, application essays, grant proposals, fiction writing, memoirs, and more.

Sounds of Hawai'i: Ced Ba'etch' presents Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar

Ced invites you on a journey to the Hawaiian islands to introduce you to one of the world's most beautiful & unique music style and its whimsical and peaceful melodies: Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar! This showcase will be peppered with the history of the music and the artists that created it.
Ced Ba'etch' is a Madison-based French expatriate guitar player/singer. His guitar picking is an alternating bass melodic fingerstyle and his vast repertoire encompasses: Hawaiian slack key, Americana "big thumb" guitar, 1920's country blues, movie soundtracks, French pop music of the past and Parisian waltz, as well as original material.

Vegetable Gardening 101: Dream Big – Start Small

Have you tried vegetable gardening but had a disappointing outcome? Don’t give up! In this talk you will be introduced to the basics of successful vegetable gardening. A Dane County Extension Horticulture Volunteer will talk about maintaining your soil; using garden journaling to record information like rainfall, sunny/cloudy days, successes, etc.; planting seeds, mulching and much more.
