Hosting your event at the library provides your guests a unique experience while helping sustain one of Madison’s diverse community spaces.  All event fees go to support the Library’s service and programming.

Weddings, corporate meetings, gala receptions, performances, or community groups – we have the space for your next event.

The Central Library takes reservations for both private rentals & public community groups. For details about hosting events at one of Madison's neighborhood libraries, please see our Meeting and Study Room Policy and contact the location directly. 

If you are reserving a study room and are not a Community Group or Organization, please contact the library directly. For rental inquiries, city or federal, non profits, community groups or other organizations, please contact the Central Events Team at events@madisonpubliclibrary.org

Approved Caterers

Catering at Madison Public Library is provided through locally selected caterers who have been approved to provide food service at Central. Each of our approved caterers has liability insurance with the City of Madison. In addition, each caterer remits 12% of the total food and non-alcoholic beverage sales from an event to the City of Madison through Madison Public Library.

You may contract with any of our Approved Caterers directly with the contact information below.

Due to Public Health Food & Safety regulations, potluck or carry-ins are not allowed.

You are welcome to use the licensed vendor of your choice for the wedding cake (or equivalent) only. For Single Use Catering Options please contact Event's directly.

Gibs Bar currently carries the liquor license through the end of 2025. Any and all alcoholic beverage service must be sold and served through Gibs Bar. Gibs remits 20% of the total alcoholic beverage sales from an event to the City of Madison through Madison Public Library. Non-alcoholic beverage service may be arranged with the approved caterer of your choice. To reserve your bar service needs, please contact the vendor immediately upon reserving your room.
