Intergenerational Earth Day Nature Journal Walk

Intergenerational Earth Day Nature Journal Walk

*Offsite
Monday, Apr 22, 2024, 4:00pm to 6:00pm

Join current Sequoya library artist, Katherine Moore, on an intergenerational nature walk in celebration of our Earth.  We will walk to Westmorland Park, pausing along the way to observe the signs of Spring, ask questions and read poetry. We will then spend some time exploring the park and journaling.  All materials will be provided.  Be prepared for about 1-1.5 miles of walking.  All ages welcome, including adults!

Registration opens April 8 at 9am. Registration is limited to 15 adults, kids are welcome to join their registered "grown up". Please meet on the Sequoya Library porch (Tokay side). Rainy days are great for hikes, but harder for journaling: rain date is Tuesday, April 23, if needed.

This event coincides with the Nature's Delights: Madison's Urban Ecology art exhibit at the Sequoya Library by Katherine Moore of Lost Feather Studio. The exhibit runs from March 4 through May, 2024.

Artist Statement: The richness of the urban ecology in Madison never ceases to surprise me. Finding owl tracks in the fresh snow, a heart-shaped lichen, or a fish tail a mile from Lake Wingra leaves me full of awe and wonder. They remind me that despite our parking lots and stoplights and noise, the magical delights of nature abound. My art attempts to capture and share the beautiful moments happening right outside our front door.
