Free assistance from Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers to help you fill out and file your Federal and Wisconsin personal income taxes. Call 608-266-6350 no earlier than January 24, 2024 to make an appointment (required).

The VITA program is an IRS and Wisconsin DOR initiative designed to support free tax preparation service for the underserved. The VITA program offers free tax help to people who generally make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

Some situations are outside the scope of the service -- ask if in doubt. You must have lived in Wisconsin for ALL of 2023 to use this service.

All Central Library appointments will be on SATURDAYS: 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23, 4/6

**We will begin taking appointments on Wednesday, January 24th for the February (2/10, 2/17, 2/24) tax help dates. We will take appointments for March and April dates (3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23, 4/6) on February 21st. **

This sale takes place at the Friends of Sequoya Bookshop, 6672 Odana Road.

On the first Saturday of each month, Friends of Sequoya Book Sales take place at our shop located at 6672 Odana Road in Market Square (next to Play-it-Again Sports). Some months also have a "bonus" sale on third Saturdays!

Masks are welcome but not required.

Practice speaking, reading, and writing English with Literacy Network. Beginning to intermediate students are welcome! 

Spring 2024 classes are January 27 - May 4, Saturdays, 10 am - 12 pm, in-person at Literacy Network, (701 Dane Street, Madison WI, 53713). The Literacy Network is across the street from the Goodman South Madison Public Library. March 9th and April 13th classes will meet at the Goodman South Library. 

This class is free for students 18 years old and up living in Dane County.

The Pinney Saturday Music Series welcomes performers on the first Saturday of the month! (Intended audience is adults, teen, and older children.)

Saturday April 6th, 11am-12pm: Chromatix A Cappella

Chromatix began in 2014 and is an a cappella vocal group based in Madison. They are known for their tight harmonies and stunning arrangements of contemporary pop and alternative songs. In addition to participating in Make Music Madison every year, you may have recently heard them caroling at the Capitol or at the New Glarus Christmas Market, and also enjoyed their recorded vocals for an exhibt at GLEAM at Olbrich Gardens.

Help make a portrait of Madison!

Engage in reflective artwork throughout this unique portrait-making project, Our Town Everywhere!  Drop-in on most Fridays (3-6pm) and Saturdays (11-2 pm) at the Pinney Library Studio to create stamped self-portraits or other community connection themed projects which will be shared and displayed across the Madison community.  All ages welcome, materials supplied, and local bilingual (Spanish / english) teaching artist Mindy will be there to guide and support your process. 

Participar en arte reflexivo. Gente de todas edades también están invitados a participar en el proyecto de retratos Nuestra ciudad por todos lados, organizado por el Bubbler en el estudio de la biblioteca Pinney.
