We're always cooking something up at the Library! Whether you're just beginning to put meals together, looking for new inspiration, or hoping to refine your technique, we've got plenty of classes and workshops for all ages and skill levels.

Learning with Chef Paul: Knife Skills and Safety

Thursday, Oct 3, 6:00-7:30pm - Lakeview Library

Once your knife skills have improved, your cooking will be more efficient and more delicious. Join Chef Paul for a demonstration on how to dice, julienne, and chiffonade vegetables and fruits. Chef Paul will also discuss how to choose, care for and sharpen knives. Vegan. Register


Chinese Steam Buns with Chef Paul Tseng

Wednesday, Oct 9, 6:15-7:45pm - Meadowridge Library

Join Chef Paul to explore this cultural experience, from making the dough, adding fillings, to steaming the buns. Get hands-on experience making steam buns and learn how a bamboo steamer acts like a moisture oven that brings out the different flavor of yeast dough. Register online or call 288-6160. Preschool Storytime Chefs

Start off with a short storytime and Kids Chef, Chef Lily, will teach everyone how to make a storytime-related snack. Children will need adult assistance. Register online or call 608-288-6160. This event is funded in part by a grant from CUNA Mutual Foundation.


Cooking with Chef Lily Kilfoy: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Mon​th (Ages 5-12)

Saturday, Oct 12, 1:00-2:15pm - Meadowridge Library

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Chef Lily. This will be a hands-on class for kids ages 5-12. Participants will whip up some of Lily's favorite fun recipes. Registration begins 9/28. Register online or call 608-288-6160. This event is funded in part by a grant from CUNA Mutual Foundation.

The Spice Box

Tuesday, Oct 29, 6:30-7:30pm - Central Library

Back by popular demand! Huma Siddiqui of White Jasmine will be here to demonstrate how to use spices in everyday cooking for easy, healthy meals. This class will include a demonstration and sampling of Mediterranean Chicken with spices and fresh spinach, and couscous with garbanazo beans and green onions.

Vegetarian Cooking with Huma Siddiqui

Tuesday, Nov 19, 6:30-7:30pm - Goodman South Madison Library

Join us and learn some delicious vegetarian recipes with Huma Siddiqui from the Spice Box. The recipes are easy, delicious and flavored with fragrant spices, a perfect combination for anyone who wants to spice up their palate. We will be making Tandoori Squash, Cumin Rice and Lentils with Spinach. Registration begins November 5. Register.
