Join artist Amy Mietzel for hands-on art activities inspired by picture books! We'll start by doing a read-aloud of the book - then create art using unique materials and fun supplies. READ and PLAY together!
Engaging with books, songs and child-led play all help children develop communication skills, patience, empathy, and pre-reading skills and helps to build a lifelong love of reading. After about 20-30 minutes of stories and songs, we'll end with a time for child-led play together in our children's area. You are welcome to stay as long as you like!
Library programs are always free. Siblings, friends and childcare groups are welcome.

Public Health Vaccine Clinic

Free COVID-19 vaccines and flu shots at the Goodman South Library for those who are uninsured/underinsured, administered by Public Health Madison & Dane County!
Clinics will be held every other Thursday from 10:30-1:00 PM.
Public Health will only be able to administer vaccines to those without health insurance or those whose health insurance does not cover the vaccines. We encourage you to check with your health care provided prior to attending this clinic.
Everyone 6 months and older is welcome. 6 months-17 year olds need a parent or guardian present.
No appointments or registration necessary, but If you would like to plan ahead appointments can be made with Public Health of Madison and Dane County. No ID or insurance required.
Dates for vaccine clinics (every other week): 10/5, 10/19, 11/2, 11/16, 11/30, 12/14, 12/28.

In partnership with the City of Madison and Madison Public Library, the African Center for Community Development provides in-person assistance* to help offset housing costs by assisting residents with applications for services, jobs, and other financial benefits.

Tour of The Mending Project at Central Library

The Sewing Machine Project will host a tour of the mending services available through their initiative, The Mending Project. Learn about the day in the life of the menders and the impact their work has on the community. Volunteer menders and coordinators, as well as their library partners, will share the history of the program and stories of their experience.
Explore mending across Madison through a series of events - Mending: Community Repair in Madison - hosted in partnership by Madison Public Library, The Mending Project, the James Watrous Gallery, and Center for Design and Material Culture at UW-Madison's School of Human Ecology.

Mini Archiving Lab Session

Access old memories and preserve them for the future through digitization! Digitize and preserve analog materials, including the following: VHS tapes, DVDs (not Blu-ray), audio cassettes, printed photographs, negatives & slides, paper-based docs like newspapers, etc.
