Free assistance from AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers to help you fill out and file your Federal and Wisconsin personal income taxes. Call 608-246-4547 beginning January 17 to reserve a half-hour appointment (required).

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides in-person and virtual tax assistance free of charge with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 or have low-to-moderate income. Tax-Aide volunteers are trained and IRS-certified every year.

Some situations are outside the scope of the service -- see what type of taxes they can prepare or ask if in doubt.  You must have lived in Wisconsin for ALL of 2022 to use this service.

Like to walk and talk?  Read hidden gems and get to know some great people?  Join us for the Northside Walking Book Club on third Fridays at 2 p.m.  We gather at Lakeview Library, and then take a walk in the neighborhood while discussing a book.  You can pick up the book in advance at Lakeview Library so you'll be ready to discuss it at the meeting--just let staff know you're looking for the Northside Walking Book Club book.  Dogs and strollers are welcome!  Call the library at 608-246-4547 for more details and to let us know if you'd like to join us.

"The Marrow Thieves" by Cherie Dimaline

"Just when you think you have nothing left to lose, they come for your dreams.

Humanity has nearly destroyed its world through global warming, but now an even greater evil lurks. The indigenous people of North America are being hunted and harvested for their bone marrow, which carries the key to recovering something the rest of the population has lost: the ability to dream. In this dark world, Frenchie and his companions struggle to survive as they make their way up north to the old lands. For now, survival means staying hidden - but what they don't know is that one of them holds the secret to defeating the marrow thieves." -- Amazon.com
