Parking Lot Construction at Goodman South Madison Library

Beginning Monday, July 28, the parking areas surrounding Goodman South Madison Library and Villager Mall, including the Central Parking Lot (in between the library and the Black Business Hub) will be closed for construction. This will affect travel and parking for visitors to Goodman South Madison Library from July - November 2025. 

Construction is taking place as part of the Village on Park Improvements Project, which was identified as part of the South Madison Plan from 2022. Some of the changes include new stormwater management, improvements to the flow of traffic throughout the site, more energy efficient lighting, and a beautiful central green space.

  • Phase I: July 28 - October 3, 2025 - The Central Parking Lot and The Atrium at Villager Mall Parking Lot will both be closed. This work is expected to last about 8 weeks from approximately July 28 to October 3, 2025, with the goal of re-opening the Central Parking Lot thereafter.
  • Phase II: July 23 - November 28, 2025 - The construction crew will work to re-open the Central Parking Lot in October and narrow the scope of work to The Atrium at Villager Mall Parking Lot during October and November. This will be opened up from South to North as work is completed. Check back for updates.

Where Do I Park?

In the parking structure located near the DMV. This recently completed lot includes 295 stalls, which offers more parking spaces than are currently available. During construction, the City of Madison has designated that guests, visitors, and customers can park in the lot for free. 

The traffic pattern in the mall will be different as they close off certain areas, and the library will have limited control over the construction and traffic. Please look for posted signage throughout the area to be directed on where to park, drive, and walk as you navigate the area at Village on Park during this time.
