On Wednesday, August 20 from 10am - 4pm, Bilingual Resource Specialists from Madison Metropolitan School District will be on-site at Lakeview, Goodman South Madison, and Meadowridge Libraries to help Spanish-speaking families with enrollment.

Online enrollment begins August 6, 2025 and can be accessed on MMSD's website. Families who are new or returning to the school for any age group can also receive in-person assistance at the schools or online during designated timeslots provided by the district. Learn more about how to enroll your child for school, including where each school is located, school contact information, and more on MMSD's website.

As kids head back to school this fall, also be aware that Metro is including supplemental service to schools, with expanded routes that help kids travel to local elementary, middle and high school locations. Each library location has a helpful print guide for kids that includes tips on how to read the bus schedule, stay safe while waiting for pick-up and riding the bus, as well as downloading and using the Fast Fare App.

Plus, kids 5-17 (or still in high school) are eligible for half-price fares on all Metro Transit buses.

Metro Transit service route updates begin August 17, 2025, including several schedule adjustments and route changes. You can visit any Madison Public Library location to pick up new System Brochure Maps and Ride Guides (routes & schedules), as well as Fast Fare Cards. Learn more by visiting your local Madison library or on Metro Transit's website.

Enrollment is underway for Madison schools and families can also apply for the Free and Reduce Meal Program! Lots of people immediately think of lunches, but qualified families receive free school breakfast and lunch meals for their student(s), reduced fees and other educational benefits.

MMSD encourages every family to apply, even if you're not sure you'll be eligible, especially because families are required to re-establish eligibility for the program each year. Children in households getting SNAP benefits automatically qualify for free meals, while other circumstances like income levels and student participation in programs like Head Start may qualify families for free or reduced lunches, as well. Apply online for the Free and Reduced Meal Program.
