Too good to miss book collection

Every month there are new titles purchased for the Too Good to Miss collections at our libraries. If you're not familiar with TGTM (as we call it here in library-world), it's a special collection of popular books that are truly too good to miss. Some are new and popular titles, others are older titles that might not have had as much media attention as a bestseller or celebrity book club selection but are still great reads that deserve another look. New books are added to the collection monthly, and are available at all Madison Public Library locations on a walk-in, first-come-first-served basis.

For this month of August we have six new titles that were added.**

Fiction
The Measure by Nikki Erlick - When every person, all over the globe, receives a small wooden box bearing the same inscription and a single piece of string inside, the world is thrown into a collective frenzy, in this novel told through multiple perspectives that introduces an unforgettable cast of characters.
One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune - Fortune returns to Barry's Bay (site of Every Summer After, 2022), and although some familiar faces appear (like Percy, Sam, and Charlie), the novel stands on its own with the story of photographer Alice.
A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna - Sera Swan was once one of the most powerful witches in Britain. Then she resurrected her great-aunt Jasmine from the (very recently) dead, lost most of her magic, befriended a semi-villainous talking fox, and was exiled from her magical Guild. Now she (slightly reluctantly and just a bit grumpily) helps Aunt Jasmine run an inn in Lancashire, where she deals with her quirky guests' shenanigans, tries to keep the talking fox in check, and longs for the magical future she lost.

Nonfiction
He/She/They: How We Talk about Gender and Why It Matters by Schuyler Bailar - Bailar, the first trans athlete to play a sport on an NCAA Division 1 men’s team and now a prominent advocate for trans rights, reflects on his experiences as a trans man and explains how we might best comprehend and discuss gender identity.
I Seek a Kind Person: My Father, Seven Children, and the Adverts That Helped Them Escape the Holocaust by Julian Borger - This memoir explores the experiences of children who escaped the Holocaust through advertisements placed in the *Manchester Guardian* by Jewish families in Vienna in 1938. The book follows journalist Julian Borger as he investigates the story of his father, Robert, who was one of the children saved by such an ad.
You or Someone You Love: Reflections from an Abortion Doula by Hannah Matthews - An eye-opening, transformative, and actionable journey through radical and compassionate community abortion care and support work: what it looks like, how each and every one of us can practice and incorporate it into our daily lives, and what we can imagine and build together.

**Linked titles are to the regular copies, which may have hold lists. The TGTM browse collection books are separate from those.
