Fall is a busy time in nature, especially for animals getting ready for winter! In this playful, hands-on program, children will explore how animals like squirrels prepare for the colder months through pretend play, storytelling, and nature discovery.
We’ll start by making entries in our nature journals using animal track stamps, then read Busy Little Squirrel by Nancy Tafuri. With squirrel tails, we’ll sing Grey Squirrel and scamper off to explore!
Then it’s time to play like real squirrels by gathering acorns, seeds, and tiny gourds in a fun “Find the Cache” activity using natural loose parts. It’s a perfect way for children to connect with the season and the busy wildlife all around them.
Geared towards ages 2-7. No advanced registration required, childcare groups welcome! In partnership with Nature Everywhere.
