Making a fresh start

A review of On the Hustle by Adriana Herrera

Dominican-American Alba Duarte is trying to do it all and is in danger of completely losing it as On the Hustle by Adriana Herrera opens. Alba is putting in the work towards her dream of being an interior designer and instagram influencer, but she's doing so on top of a full-time job and being a support to her immigrant family. Something's gotta give. And when Alba decides it's giving up her job as assistant to the arrogant Theo Ganas and moving to Dallas? Well that sets in motion a whole new set of complications in this fast-paced, sexy and flirtatious contemporary romance.

Alba's sudden abandonment of the job she's had for three (very successful) years, makes Theo happy. Yes, you read that right. Our hero is happy Alba is quitting. You see, Theo has been secretly attracted to Alba, but as her boss he's always known he couldn't act on his feelings. He's been waiting for Alba to cut the cord so he could make his feelings known, but he now faces an uphill battle since Alba is convinced he's happy to see her go. What's a guy to do? If you're Theo, a former Olympic swimmer, you keep the goal in mind and do what needs doing to reach it. When he suddenly turns back up in Alba's life, she's baffled. And when he shows her how charming he can be? Well all bets are off.

I zipped through this one with a smile on my face the whole time. Loved Alba and Theo and the ways in which they had to readjust their thinking about one another to gain their happy ever after.
