Breaking words down into individual syllables is a key literacy skill and this app gives players a lot of practice with that concept!  In this game, users search for familiar words within a pile of circles each containing a single syllable. When they find the syllables for a particular word, they tap on the circles in order to spell the word (ex. ba + na + na = banana!). The levels are divided into categories (fruits, sports, planets, etc.) so players have some frame of reference to choose from when searching for words. The concept of the game is simple and there are so many ways to customize the game to suit your own (or your child's) skill level. You can choose between adult or child levels (the adult levels include categories like "chemical elements" and the kid levels don't give the option to connect to the Game Center), decide whether to impose a time limit or not and (my favorite feature) you can choose to play in any of the six languages the app offers (English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian) and brush up your foreign language skills!  The app also has some accessibility features including high contrast and a special dyslexic-friendly font. If you're looking for a fun way to practice reading skills, this is a great choice!
