Another high quality digital toy from one of my favorite small app companies, Yatatoy! This latest offering invites users to mix music. Choose from a selection of beats, then choose some silly animals that each have their own unique sound and dance. You can mix and match all of the sounds and they all sound good together. Choose whether you want the music at regular pace or double-time and then decide whether you want to add some reverberation for a really dramatic effect! Once you’ve created a mix that you love, return to the main menu where you can see a list of all the mixes you’ve made and go back to edit or listen to them again or create a whole new composition. Kids will love seeing all of the silly animal actions and figuring out which sounds each animal makes (each sound has five different pitch variations). Challenge your kids to mimic the animals’ dances -- maybe you can have a family dance-off! Either way, kids can play the DJ and learn all about how layers of music build on each other to create a complex final piece (Shhhh! Don’t tell them they’re learning!).
