Parks Alive!

Movies in the park are being shown at Parks Alive! and Mobile Madison events in summer 2022This summer the City of Madison is hosting 31 events at eight different parks around the city from June-August. Come meet your neighbors, enjoy free food and music, and enjoy these outdoor events taking place in your neighborhood. Park locations include Allied Park, Elver Park, Aldo Leopold Park, Meadowood Park, Owl Creek Park, Penn Park and Worthington Park. Many local organizations are providing activities for the community to enjoy, including the MSCR Fit2Go, MMoCA Art Cart, Madison Reading Project, Madison Children Museum's Roadshow, Sina Davis Movies in the Park and many more! At some events, attendees will also be able to register to vote or get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Madison Public Library's Dream Bus will be at Mobile Madison events throughout summer 2022Mobile Madison

Mobile Madison is a local group made up of orgs on wheels that bring free, mobile activities to a multitude of Madison neighborhoods, prioritizing areas of limited access to resources. Member organizations include our Dream Bus, as well as Madison Reading Project's Big Red Bus, the MSCR + Mmoca's Art Cart, MMSD's Play + Learn and many more. Madison Public Library will attend three Madison Night Market events in 2022Madison Night Market

Stop by Madison Public Library's table (Top of State St.) at Madison Night Market this summer. The Market is located along State Street and Gilman Street in the heart of downtown Madison, where library staff will join vendors showcasing handmade products, local art, artisan gifts, prepackaged foods and fresh produce. Sign up for a library card, find out about upcoming events or programs, or just say hello! The event includes live music, artists, special visiting food carts and pop-up restaurant experiences.

A Wild Rumpus

A Wild Rumpus is back for 2022This free, child-led activity is a unique play opportunity in the park on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer.  The library provides Anji play equipment to spark your children's imagination and kids create a play story based on their activities of the day. Meanwhile, grownups have an opportunity to help their kids reflect on their play. Participants are encouraged to wear their "play clothes" and bring a water bottle. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Dream Bus

Madison Public Library's Dream BusMadison Public Library's Dream Bus visits a dozen stops five days a week during the summer. The goal is to bring books, DVDs and more to communities that experience transportation barriers to accessing library services. Visitors to the Dream Bus can apply for a library card, browse books outdoors and check out or return books, place holds or pick up holds at the Dream Bus. See the full schedule online.

Forward Madison

Madison Public Library and Forward Madison are partners in literacy! This summer, the Dream Bus will be at the July 30th soccer game. This is a family night with the theme Paint the Mountains: Channel your inner Bob Ross with this night devoted to local art. Take part in a pre-match painting session and check out all of the local artists that will be displaying their works throughout the stadium! Madison Public Library will also have a table at the September 17th family night, which has a pajama party theme and begins at 5 p.m. Players from Forward Madison FC will also attend the Mobile Madison events this summer and bring their prize wheel, as well as balls to play soccer tennis!
