The Madison Writing Assistance (MWA) program offers free, one-to-one writing support for community members at library branches throughout the city. Our friendly, experienced writing coaches are happy to help with writing projects across a wide range of genres, including resumes, cover letters, application essays, grant proposals, fiction writing, memoirs, and more. MWA will return Fall 2024 for in-person assistance from Monday, September 16 - Saturday, December 7! You may meet with an MWA instructor on:
- Mondays 4-7pm at Lakeview Library
- Tuesdays 11:30am-1:30pm at Goodman South Madison Library
- Wednesdays 10am-12pm at Meadowood Neighborhood Center
- Thursdays 4-7pm at Hawthorne Library
- Fridays 3-6pm at Sequoya Library
- Saturdays 1:30-4:30pm at Goodman South Madison Library

- What are you excited to work with patrons on? Anything that is of concern to them, especially resumes and school applications.

- What are you studying? Composition and rhetoric, professional communication, technical writing, book publishing, and more
- What are you excited to work with patrons on? I'm excited to work on anything that they're excited to work on.
Lulu J. (she/her):
- How long have you been working with MWA? Spring 2024 was my first semester.
- What are you studying? Applied English Linguistics
- What are you excited to work with patrons on? I love the feeling when I hear the patrons who came to my appointment say they got a job!
Helen S. (she/they):
- How long have you been working with MWA? This is my first semester working with MWA!
- What are you studying? I study Old English literature (c. 450-1100), especially later Old English texts.
- What are you excited to work with patrons on? I am the most excited to work with patrons on their creative writing projects! I have a creative writing MA and really enjoy helping others develop their craft.
