The Madison Writing Assistance (MWA) program offers free, one-to-one writing support for community members at library branches throughout the city. Our friendly, experienced writing coaches are happy to help with writing projects across a wide range of genres, including resumes, cover letters, application essays, grant proposals, fiction writing, memoirs, and more. MWA is available in-person for Fall 2023 September 18 - December 9, 2023 (no sessions on November 23-26). You may meet with an MWA instructor on:
- Mondays 4-7pm at Lakeview Library
- Tuesdays 10:30am-1:30pm at Goodman South Madison Library
- Wednesdays 10am-12pm at Meadowood Neighborhood Center
- Thursdays 4-7pm at Hawthorne Library
- Fridays 3-6pm at Sequoya Library
- Saturdays 1:30-4:30pm at Goodman South Madison Library

This fall we've got a great group of writing coaches who will be in our libraries to meet with patrons. Get to know the seven UW-Madison students who will be available September - December to help you take your writing to the next level.
Josse S. (he/him):

- What are you studying? Library and Information Sciences
- What are you excited to work with patrons on? I'm excited to work on a variety of work with anyone that walks through the door.
Jules R. (she/her):
- How long have you been working with MWA? This fall is my first semester working with MWA
- What are you studying? I'm pursuing a joint PhD in Geography and Environmental Studies. I study local food system resilience and sustainability.
- What are you excited to work with patrons on? I'm excited to see the wide range of writing that folks are working on, especially anything creative!

- What are you studying? English (composition and rhetoric)
- What are you excited to work with patrons on? I'm excited to work on any kind of writing that the patrons bring in.
Shirley O. (she/her):

- What are you studying? Civil and Environmental Engineering and Energy
- What are you excited to work with patrons on? I've always loved teaching and utilizing skills I've built over the years. This is a great opportunity for me to do just that and give back to part of the community that has served me so well so far in my Wisconsin/grad school experience

- What are you studying? Composition and Rhetoric - in other words, Writing Studies
- What are you excited to work with patrons on? I love helping community members work towards new stages in their life - which tends to come along with applications, resumes, recommendation letters, and so many other forms of writing.
