Want to use the library's free ebooks when we're closed, but you don't have a library card? No problem!
While you are practicing social distancing, our staff have been setting up a virtual library card to meet the needs of the community during these challenging times and provide library service virtually.
To get your virtual library card, fill out a short online form and we'll send you a new library card number as soon as possible (we have thousands of requests to process!) Wih your card, you'll have instant access to over 71,000 ebooks and audiobooks through Wisconsin’s Digital Library, over 50 online magazines through Flipster, as well as Mango Languages, Consumer Reports, the New York Times, and many more free online resources. The virtual library card expires on June 30, and when we re-open, you can visit library to get a full-use card by providing a photo ID and proof of address. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or you have a current library card but don't know your PIN.
Please note: Madison Public Library virtual library cards are only available to people who live in the South Central Library System (Dane, Green, Sauk, Columbia, Adams, Portage, and Wood counties) of Wisconsin. If you live outside this service area, please contact your local library to see if they are offering a similar resource.
