The King Coalition, in partnership with the Urban League of Greater Madison, Madison Public Library, the United Way of Dane County, MSCR, Dane County, the City of Madison, Madison Out of School Time, and UW Madison Office of Precollege/Youth Protection and Compliance is pleased to invite middle and high school youth across Madison to attend the MLK Day Youth Call to Service on Monday January 20, 2020.
The MLK Day Youth Call to Service will take place at the Madison Central Library and the Overture Center from 11:30 am - 6:00 pm, and will include a free lunch, interactive workshops, a brief march around the capitol, and participation in the Freedom Sing-In at the Overture Center Rotunda. Workshop topics will include the history of the civil rights movement, modern civil rights movements, historical freedom songs, and modern freedom songs.
Organizers ask that youth register in groups through their school, local community center, or youth groups, and that they are accompanied by at least 1 adult chaperone for every 10 students in the group.
