Madison Forward Fund

Need help making ends meet? Apply for the Madison Forward Fund from June 21st to July 1st.

Applications opened this week for the Madison Forward Fund: a guaranteed income pilot that will give 155 families in Madison $500 per month for one year. The program is a collaboration between the City of Madison and Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, a national network of mayors advocating for an income floor in their communities and beyond. The application is available June 21 - July 3 and can be completed online at MadisonForwardFund.wisc.edu. You can use any device to apply, including phones, and if you need access to a computer or the Internet feel free to drop by your local library.

Mayor Rhodes-Conway and Mayors for a Guaranteed Income started this program in Madison because Madisonians deserve economic stability. Similar programs in other cities like Stockton, California show promise for improving wellbeing in their communities.

Who is eligible for the program?

  • Do you live in the City of Madison?
  • Are you 18 years or older?
  • Do you have at least one child (age 17 or under) that lives with you?
  • Is your household income less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Line? (See income table here)

If you answered yes to all four questions, you are eligible to apply for the Madison Forward Fund!

The application window is from June 21-July 3, 2022. Families that are selected will be contacted via email or phone approximately 3 weeks after the application period ends. All selected families will have the opportunity to meet with a benefits counselor before deciding whether to enroll in the program or not.
