Get One-to-One Writing Help from Experienced Instructors

Madison Writing Assistance at Madison Public Library

The Madison Writing Assistance (MWA) program offers free, one-to-one writing support for community members, traditionally at libraries and neighborhood centers throughout the city, and now online. Their friendly, experienced instructors are happy to help people with their writing across a wide range of genres, including resumes, cover letters, application essays, grant proposals, creative writing, and various forms of life writing.

Appointments are available Monday through Saturday at the times listed below through August 1, 2020:

Mondays           11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Tuesdays          10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Wednesdays    10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Thursdays         4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Fridays               3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturdays           1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Madison Writing Assistance program will begin again in the fall, with additional dates and times.

For the health and safety of the community, all MWA writing support will be offered remotely for the summer term. Options for remote writing assistance include (1) written feedback via email, (2) face-to-face conversation via Google Meet, and (3) conversation via phone. Visit the Madison Writing Assistance website to schedule an appointment.

MWA services are made possible through generous donations from the Evjue Foundation, the UW Anonymous Fund, and Altrusa International of Madison, along with administrative and program support from the UW-Madison English Department, the UW-Madison Writing Center, and their library and neighborhood center partners.
