Checkmate! Join a Chess Club

Chess Clubs at Madison Public Library locations

Multiple library locations, including Alicia Ashman, Sequoya, and Lakeview Libraries, host regular chess clubs for different age and skill levels.

Ashman All Ages Chess Club

Come and learn chess basics in the library with a 30 minute introduction of the game, and then play a friendly game of chess with an opponent. Chess meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month from 4-6 p.m.  All ages and levels welcome!

Lakeview Library "Chess at the Library"

Chess meets the second and fourth Monday of every month from 6-7:45 p.m. All ages and skill levels are welcome! 

Sequoya Kids Chess Club

Sequoya's Kids Chess Club is a place for school aged kids who know the basic moves of chess and want to practice their skills! Sessions usually begin with a 25-minute presentation about strategy and then are opened up for free play against other opponents your age. Kids Chess Club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 4:30-6 p.m.

Sequoya All Ages Chess Club

Come on in for a friendly game of chess with your neighbors. All ages welcome! The All Ages Chess Club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 6-8:45 p.m.
