Celebrate Juneteenth!

Juneteenth celebration

The library is thrilled to be included in Kujichagulia's Juneteenth celebration again this year.  There's a whole week of activities planned and library staff will be at Penn Park on Saturday, June 18 from noon-4pm, right after the Juneteenth parade.

  • Noon-2pm the Dream Bus will be registering people for library cards and checking out books.
  • Noon-4pm, The Bubbler at Madison Public Library will host an interactive photo project called Lovey Town, which will celebrate African American history & experience.
  • Noon-4pm, stop by the Madison Public Library table to register for a library card, learn about library resources, check out a specially curated collection of Black Experience books for loan, pick up some WE READ stickers to color and ask questions about library resources.

We can't wait to see you in Penn Park!  And remember, Juneteenth is now an official City of Madison holiday, so all Madison Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, June 20.
