While many kids are on winter break, it may be a good time to think about investing in some fun or educational apps for them to engage with! Here are a handful of high quality apps worth their subscription price from our resident Apps expert Carissa C! For most you can choose a short term or annual subscription and almost all are available on both Android and iOS devices.
Epic!— instant access to tons of digital books (the same ones you can find at the library, but no waiting on a holds list).
Caribu— in addition to a large library of digital books (including Spanish titles), games and activities, this app allows you to enjoy them while on a video call with a loved one. Perfect for connecting from a distance!
Pok Pok Playroom (iOS only) — My favorite new open-ended play app! They add new content regularly, so the subscription is worth it. Playing with physical toys is always better, but sometimes that’s not possible and this app works great during those situations.
Sago Mini World — This subscription gives you access to every single one of the many Sago Mini apps plus a few that aren’t available as stand-alone apps (check out Magic Camera!). Users also can access the newest apps about a month before they hit the app store as stand-alone titles.
Pinna — Excellent, inclusive podcasts and audiobooks for kids.
All the World: Better Learning (iOS only) — Independently produced, high-quality videos on topics ranging from science to emotions to crafts. Choose from five languages! Way better than watching YouTube.
Sesamo TV — Sesame Street in Spanish!
