
Artists' Night returns for its second year with a two-day event on June 2 and 3, 2023. This event was started by artists and for artists to share their work in venues across Madison. Madison Public Library is participating with four events featuring three of our Artists-in-Residence at different libraries. See below for information on how to participate!
Friday, June 2:
Mars Patterson in the Bubbler Room, Central Library

EcoRest Art & Reflection open studio. All ages are welcome to join in weaving together perspectives, processes, experiences; creating a blanket of memories to see and hear. As participants drop in they can work individually or in groups weaving together images, found objects and recyclable materials on our giant community tapestry;

Add onto the collaborative Weaving Wall — use plastics, yarn, or other found objects

Record Stories / Community Sketchbook — contribute written, oral or drawn responses to provided prompts or document the Open Studio process through snapshot photograph

Color Play - Making the World a Little More Rainbow! Bernie invites patrons of all ages and abilities to join in this open studio/drop in session, which will focus on process, improvisation, creativity, and flow in art making. All ages are welcome to join Bernie in creating a color-explosion site-specific installation within the Pinney Studio over the course of multiple months. Whatever you create and leave behind in this space may be added to the installation!
Ash Armenta at the Thurber Park Residency

All ages are welcome to join in exploring Printmaking within Community Space through hands-on exploration with traditional printmaking practices to explore the question of: “How can interpersonal relationships with self and community be visualized?” Drop by to meet Ash, see this unique community studio space and residency -- and maybe even create something in the meantime!
