Feb 20, 2020
Angela Trudell Vasquez

Madison's Central Library will host a reception for newly-appointed Madison Poet Laureate Angela Trudell Vasquez on Saturday, February 22 from 2-3:30pm.

Trudell Vasquez was appointed Poet Laureate for the City of Madison by Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway. Trudell Vasquez will hold the volunteer position from January 20, 2020 until January 16, 2022.

At the reception, Trudell Vasquez will read from all three of her collections, including her latest published in May 2019 - In Light, Always Light. The event will also feature music, interpretive dance, and Trudell Vasquez will talk about how she became a poet, her influences, how she approaches the page, her plans for her new role, and the craft of poetry and history of prosody. There will be a Q&A and time to mingle.
