A review of Perfect Recipes for Having People Over by Pam Anderson

You’re entertaining and you need ideas for what to serve.  Perfect Recipes for Having People Over by Pam Anderson might just be the answer. This beautifully illustrated book has over 200 recipes, which run the gamut from sit-down dinners to more casual eating outside.

What I really like about this cookbook are the tips that accompany lots of the recipes.  When should I serve it?  Any shortcuts?  What should I serve with it?  How far ahead can I make it?  These are just a few of the many questions the author answers.  For instance her suggestion for what to serve with Boneless Coq Au Vin includes not only appetizers, but also salads, sides and desserts.  And many of the recipes include variations.  Take the basic creamy vegetable soup and make Sweet Potato with Ginger.

The next time you entertain, switch it up and serve your guests Creamy Rosemary-Scented Potato Soup.  A favorite recipe was the Cheddar Puffs with Scallions and Cayenne.  Not only are the Puffs fabulous, but they can be made up to 8 hours ahead and recrisped when the guests have arrived!  How’s that for perfect?
