Virtual Library Card Form

1 Start 2 Complete

While you're practicing social-distancing by remaining at home and avoiding crowds, you can still access many of Madison Public Library's digital resources with your library card. If you don't already have a valid library card, you can apply for a virtual library card by filling out the form below. If you're looking to apply for a Full Use Card, you'll want to fill out that application form.

Once the form is submitted, a new library card number will be emailed to you. Your virtual library card provides access to Wisconsin's Digital Library (which is home to more than 71,000 digital books, audiobooks, videos and more), as well as many other online resources, including more eBooks and online magazines purchased through an emergency gift from the Madison Public Library Foundation. Please note that you will NOT be able to log in to LINKcat or place holds on any physical items with this virtual card. Once the library re-opens, you can visit any library location with your photo ID and proof of address to get a full use library card. Please email if you have any questions.

Madison Public Library virtual library cards are only available to people who live in the South Central Library System (Dane, Green, Sauk, Columbia, Adams, Portage, and Wood counties) of Wisconsin.  If you live outside this service area, please contact your local library to see if they are offering a similar resource.

Not required but please add one if you have one (and especially if you have a common name).
