Curbside Pickup Service

Curbside Pickup Service

Madison Public Library now offers curbside pickup service at all locations.

Curbside Pickup Hours

  • 11am - 7pm, Monday through Friday
    12pm - 5pm, Saturday
  • All curbside pickup service requests require an appointment. Call the pickup library to schedule an appointment once you've been notified of a hold.

Ways to Make Requests

Pick Up Your Existing Holds

If you had placed holds but didn't pick them up before we closed, you might have holds available for curbside pickup. Check your account in LINKcat.

If you do have holds available, make a pickup appointment at your normal pickup library by calling the library.

Place New Holds

Place new holds in LINKcat for items that are already on the shelves at a particular library.

Here's a short tutorial video demonstrating the process.

Holds will be filled in the order they are received. After you get the notification that your holds are available, make a pickup appointment at the chosen library by calling the library.

Ask Library Staff To Make Recommendations and Place Holds

Call 608-315-5151 (toll free 888-266-7805) 11am - 7pm Monday - Friday or 12pm - 5pm on Saturday and Sunday and Library staff will place the hold for you at a particular library.

Holds will be filled in the order they are received. After you get the notification that your holds are available, make a pickup appointment at the chosen library by calling the library.

Librarian's Picks
CSA-Style Request

Fill out our new Curbside Books & Materials Request Form to tell us what you're hoping to get and which library you want to pick them up from. Library staff will place holds on a selection of books and/or other materials for you that are already on the shelves from that particular library. It's like a Library CSA Box!

Holds will be filled in the order they are received. After you get the notification that your holds are available, make a pickup appointment at the chosen library by calling the library

All staff working the service receive training and the personal protective equipment necessary to keep themselves, other staff, and the public safe. All employees wear face coverings according to City of Madison policy, and the library asks that library customers observe social distancing best practices.

Book drops remain closed but returns are being accepted at all libraries during curbside service hours (at Central Library, returns are being accepted 24/7 at the Fairchild Street entrance). Library buildings also remain closed to the public.

There is no delivery of library materials between library locations at this time. Because of this, library patrons must request library materials that are on the shelves of the library they wish to visit.
