Meet Lakeview Library's May artist, Preeti Ojha, and enjoy her exhibition, Painting from Life and Nature, on display in the library's community room. Light refreshments will be provided.
Preeti's Artist Statement
My painting inspirations come from everyday life, people, and my surroundings. As an artist I find painting outdoors very nurturing to my soul. I enjoy doing portraits from live models, there is a meditative spirit in the room when everyone is drawing or painting together from a real breathing person sitting in front of you.
The paintings displayed in this exhibit are all painted Alla Prima, a painting technique in which a canvas is completed in one session.
The landscapes are done at different locations in and around Madison, with a group of local artists. The portraits are done at Atwood Atelier, under the guidance of artist Philip Salamone. I’m thankful to the Madison area community of artists and friends who’ve enabled me to explore and supported me in this journey.
