ONLINE-Central Library Book Group- Settlin' ; stories of Madison's early African American families by Muriel Simms

A brief history of Madison's African American settlement is followed by oral histories- each seven to ten pages- with the descendants of Madison's earliest Black families finally adding their stories to the record. This collection is published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.
