The Mondragon Cooperatives in the Basque Country, Spain are regarded as one of the most successful worker cooperative organizations. Founded in 1956 as a response to poverty, they now employ over 80,000 people in the finance, manufacturing, retail, and knowledge industries.
Almost every worker cooperative in the US is modeled after Mondragon. In a worker cooperative, workers have an ownership stake in the company and a right to democratic participation.
Joins us for a discussion about Mondragon: its community, culture, mission, as well as an in depth view of several of their cooperatives.
