Friends of Madison Public Library BIG Book Sale

Seven Library Friends' groups are pooling their inventory for a large sale of gently used and donated books. The sale takes place rain or shine at 1301 W. Badger Road in Madison, and Taquitos Marimar Food Truck will be on site from 11am - 2pm again this year!

Most items are $1 or $2, with a bag sale from 1-3pm ($5 per bag). Friends accept cash, check or credit card payment. All proceeds benefit Madison Public Libraries.

Participating Friends' groups include those for the Central, Goodman South Madison, Hawthorne, Lakeview, Meadowridge, Pinney, and Monroe Street libraries. Interested people can also learn more about becoming Friends’ members or volunteering at the sale.

Intermediate Students: Practice speaking, reading, and writing English with the Literacy Network.

Summer 2024 classes are June 1 - August 17, Saturdays, 10 am - 12 pm, in-person at Goodman South, Madison Public Library. This class is free for students 18 years old and up living in Dane County. A class for beginner students will be held at the Literacy Network at the same time.

Join us to READ and Play together. When children engage with books, songs, and play, they develop communication skills, patience, empathy, and pre-reading skills which helps to build a lifelong love of reading. 

This program is geared toward children under age 5. All older and younger siblings as well as childcare groups are welcome to join.

Featuring: Natasha Oladokun

with special guest Maliha Nu'Man, Madison's Youth Poet Laureate.

There will also be readings by Marilyn L. Taylor, DeShawn McKinney, Lisa Marie Brodsky, Guy Thorvaldsen, Richard Merelman, Sandy Stark, Rita Mae Reese, Mary Rae Goehring, Jacqueline Martindale, and Ingrid Andersson.
