READ and PLAY with your favorite baby or toddler! Engaging with books, songs and playful experiences all help children develop communication skills, patience, empathy, and pre-reading skills and helps to build a lifelong love of reading.

Library programs are always free. Siblings and childcare groups are welcome.

Storytime for the Very Young is intended for children ages 0 to 3 years old.

The Madison Writing Assistance (MWA) program offers free, one-to-one writing support for community members at library branches throughout the city. Our friendly, experienced writing coaches are happy to help with writing projects across a wide range of genres, including resumes, cover letters, application essays, grant proposals, fiction writing, memoirs, and more.

MWA services are made possible through generous donations from the Evjue Foundation and UW Anonymous Fund, along with administrative and program support from the UW-Madison English Department, the UW-Madison Writing Center, and our Library and neighborhood center partners.

You're invited to come play video games on the playstation alongside community officers from Madison's southside neighborhood! Additional activities in the form of monopoly, cards, dominoes and more will also be available. The City of Madison Police Department believes in a community policing approach, which encourages relationship building efforts with youth and adults to help prevent crime, enhance quality of life, and increase trust. 

 

Chop with a Cop takes place on Tuesdays throughout February and March from 2:30-4pm. This is a drop-in program intended for youth ages 12-19.

Calling all kids! Join Nate from the Bubbler to learn the basics of photography. During each session, Nate will give tips on photography skills -- which you'll get to try your hand at by completing a photography scavenger hunt in the library. Be ready to use your imaginations and creativity!

 

No experience or equipment is required to take part in this program. The Bubbler will provide all cameras. This program is open to kids of all ages, but kids ages 7 and under will need a parent or guardian to accompany them.

Meadowridge Makes - Duct Tape

Children and families, drop in for an evening of arts and crafts at Meadowridge Library! Each week we will feature either an open-ended craft or a project led by a community artist. This program is recommended for ages 3-10.

This week we'll be making our own creations out of colorful duct tape. With three-dimensional crafts, the possibilities are endless.

For school-aged kids who know the basic moves of chess and want to practice their skills. Sessions begin with a 30 minute strategy or tactics lesson, followed by open game time. Come on in to play against other opponents your age!
