Chair Yoga & Gentle Movement for Older Adults
Monday, Nov 27, 10:30am to 11:15am
Join Kim for a chair yoga and gentle movement class focusing on range of motion, breathing, and balance. Movements will be performed either sitting in a chair or standing.
Chair yoga is accessible to anyone of any age or ability. The practice begins with quiet stillness, focusing on breathing to increase respiratory function. Gentle movement while seated can increase range of motion and flexibility in all joints of the body and reduce arthritis pain. Standing postures are intended to strengthen muscles and bone, improve balance and decrease fear by gaining body awareness. In addition to the physical benefits, chair yoga can also calm the mind, reduce stress, and enhance compassion for ourselves and others, therefore enhancing quality of life!
Space is limited for this program; registration is required. To register please use the link below or call Lakeview Library at 608-246-4547. Registration opens November 13 at 10 AM, two weeks prior to program date.
Presented in partnership with NewBridge.

Meadowridge Book Club: BIG READ 2023-24 How Minds Change: The New Science of Belief, Opinion and Persuasion (Go Big Read 2023-24)
Monday, Nov 27, 4:00pm to 5:00pm
Join us for a discussion of the 2023-2024 Go Big Read title: How Minds Change: The New Science of Belief, Opinion and Persuasion by David McRaney.
Bridging emergent research in psychology and neuroscience with conversations among political activists, cult members, and conspiracy theorists, How Minds Change interrogates the mechanisms that determine personal and collective opinion and belief. Crafted by international bestseller and expert in the psychology of reasoning, David McRaney, How Minds Change is both an exploration into the art of persuasion and a practical guide for navigating polarization and enacting social change.
Approachable and empathetic, How Minds Change is a thoughtful and pressing text for the current age. McRaney condenses dense scientific research into useful, ethical techniques for anyone interested in not just how we come to form beliefs, but why we come to identify ourselves with particular schools of thought. How Minds Change suggests that transformation is not just possible, but necessary as we strive towards meaningful connection in divisive times.
Books will be available for checkout at the library prior to the discussions.
