[FULL] Indigenous Arts Bead Workshop (Family-Friendly)

[FULL] Indigenous Arts Bead Workshop (Family-Friendly)

Community Room
Saturday, May 27, 12:00pm to 4:00pm

Indigenous beadwork is an expression of identity, creativity, and healing. Come learn the basics of Indigenous beadwork at this workshop by making a pair of beaded earrings, or a beaded keychain. Both options will have materials provided for you. Experienced beaders are also encouraged to attend!

This workshop is led by Paige Skenandore, member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin. Paige has been leading beading workshops around Madison for over three years. She grew up in Oneida, and recently earned her Bachelor of Science at UW-Madison in the spring of 2022.

This workshop is family-friendly. Bead projects are geared to ages 8 and older. Toys, books, and coloring materials will also be available for younger children. Indigenous youth and families are especially encouraged to attend, but all are welcome! Registration is required and spots are limited. Please sign-up per project; if you are going to work on a project with a child/partner register for one spot. If each person in your group is making their own project, register each person for a spot. To register fill out the form below or call (608) 246-4548.

If registration is full and you'd like to be placed on the waitlist, email jhavens@madisonpubliclibrary.org

What is your first memory of water?
What is your first memory of sand, soil, or concrete?
Where is home? What is home?
What is Nature?
