Study Room A
Tuesday, Nov 29, 5:00pm to 7:00pm

Join us for this unique book club where we discuss a book and then watch the film adaptation! All teens and tweens are welcome to attend! You don't need to read an entire book, but you must have read enough to contribute something to the discussion in order to watch the movie. If you read in Meadowridge Library or the Meadowood Neighborhood Center, your reading time will also count towards the Get Down Party that week! Snacks will be provided!

This month, we will be reading any Batman comic book and watching The Batman (2021). Stop into the library to check out a copy of one of the Batman comics!

Tuesday, Nov 29, 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Paul Robeson -- Ballad of an American is an excerpted reading in performance of Sharon Rudahl's beautiful work Ballad of an American: A Graphic Biography of Paul Robeson (2020), edited by Paul Buhle and Lawrence Ware. Interspersed with Robeson's own music and words, beginning with an eleven-minute excerpt of his compelling interview before HUAC (House Un-American Activities Commitee), it uses the frank, direct writing, and imagery of Rudahl.

Poets Quanda Dawnyell Johnson and Melvin Hinton will takes the audience on a journey through the passions, fortitude, and grit of one of the greatest men, so soon forgotten, that this country has ever produced. Scholar, athlete, lawyer, singer, actor, activist, in short, the true Renaissance Man of letters, art, and activism -- Paul Robeson.
