Friends of Sequoya First Saturday Book Sales have resumed at our shop located at 6672 Odana Road in Market Square (next to Play-it-Again Sports.)

City of Madison residents can cast their absentee ballot for the November general election at the library!

 

Meadowridge Library will be an In-Person Absentee Voting location from Tuesday, October 25 through Saturday, November 5. Voting hours are 11am-7pm on weekdays and 10-4pm on Saturdays.

 

Voter registration will be available through November 4. Voters who need to register due to a recent move or name change will also need to show an acceptable proof of address document. Registration will not be available on November 5 because registration is not allowed the three days before an election.

 

Please keep in mind that, due to the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling, a completed absentee ballot may ONLY be returned to Clerk staff at an in-person absentee voting location by the voter who cast it.

Engaging with books, songs and playful experiences all help children develop communication skills, patience, empathy, and pre-reading skills​ and helps to build a lifelong love of reading. 3D timeline Creative Journey, Part 2

Explore your unique creative journey in a two-day workshop (10/29 & 11/5). We will have free writing and mind mapping taking a deep dive into your creative life history. Day one will include some examples.  Day two will be assembling your 3D timeline, examples could be an altered board game, an altered book, a photo cube and more.  Please plan to attend both sessions.

This workshop is geared towards older teens, adults, and seniors.

Pinney Studio RESIDENCY OVERVIEW:

As an artist who works in bookmaking, box making, alternative photo processes, art journaling, and installation art (with a focus on storytelling through family stories!) Angela Johnson invites Madison adults and seniors to come explore new art mediums with her.

Angela sees the tools of creating as a way to process ideas, she plans to host weekly open studio sessions and workshops for the community throughout her time in residence. These opportunities will be focused on different media/processes each month with an emphasis on storytelling through thinking outside the box.  Learn more about Angela on her website(link is external) (external link).

Join Leah Winneshiek, Ho-Chunk, and make a pair of earrings using wire beading techniques. Everyone over the age of 7 is welcome. Those 11 and younger will require extra assistance from a caregiver. All materials are provided and take what you make with you when you leave.

This club is a safe space for LGBTQ+ identified teen readers and their allies! Causal and fun, this group will be meeting once a month to connect over shared experiences and discover new inclusive books. Especially for teens ages 13-18 in 8th-12th grade, younger middle school students need to be prepared for the full range of themes and situations in young adult (teen) literature. We will be meeting at Cargo Coffee on South Park Street (1309 S Park St, Madison, WI 53715).
