Drop-in for storytime stations in the children’s area at Lakeview! Self-directed activities -- stories, songs and rhymes, crafts and play -- that promote early literacy skills will be available throughout the day. Especially for kids up to age 5 with their caregivers. 

Per order of Public Health Madison & Dane County, masks are required in all indoor spaces and strongly encouraged at all outdoor library events for those age 2 and up.

Are you behind on your rent because of the pandemic, either directly or indirectly? You are not alone. Many people are experiencing financial hardship right now.The African Center for Community Development will be located at the Hawthorne library on Mondays from 11:00-6:00pm to help individuals and families who owe back rent apply for Dane Core assistance. Eligible households in need of rental and utility assistance should stop by. Available by drop-in and appointment. For appointments, call (608)957-5623 or (608)514-9321.

Come to the library for a different activity every week! Engage in button making, arts and crafts, maker activities, and more. For kids ages 6 and up.

This event will take place outdoors on the Pinney Patio - please dress appropriately for the weather. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be cancelled. Per order of Public Health Madison & Dane County, masks are required in all indoor spaces for those age 2 and up.

Vengan a la biblioteca para nueva actividad cada semana. Experimenten con la fabricación de botones, artes y manualidades, actividades de creación y más. Para niños de 6 años en adelante.

Join Bubbler Media instructor Nate Clark for an afternoon of comic creation. Use old school methods of drawing, collaging, and storyboarding or tinker with digital comic creation on an iPad. You can join in on the fun just once or a few times, or come back every week! For kids ages 5-12.

MWA services are made possible through generous donations from the Evjue Foundation and UW Anonymous Fund, along with administrative and program support from the UW-Madison English Department, the UW-Madison Writing Center, and our Library and neighborhood center partners.

Learn the basics of weaving with staff from Fiddlesticks Knits! You'll experiment with different stitches, textures and colors to create a unique piece of woven art. ​All supplies provided.

About the presenter: More than a store, Fiddlesticks endeavors to cultivate a community that supports creativity, practical self-reliance, and feminist empowerment. All are welcome to shop, craft, learn, and gather regardless of skill level, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, race, immigration status, ability, and/or socioeconomic status. We want to make the art and skill of fiber arts accessible to everyone.
