Explore science technology engineering & math through play (and books!). For children ages 3-5 years old. Registration is first-come first-served. Please pick up a nametag 15 minutes before the program begins.

Get free job assistance with a strong focus on professional development and application writing including resumes and cover letters. Help looking for work online or filling out an online job application is also provided. Sign up for a free one hour session of one-on-one assistance by calling 266-6350.

Knit & Nibble
Join us for a couple hours of needlework and casual conversation. Everyone is welcome! Bring any stitching or hand projects (knitting crocheting embroidery needlepoint). Peer instruction and advice is possible. If you wish bring a snack to share with the group. Beverages will be provided. This group will meet every Monday from 1:00-3:00 pm. There will be a few days when the program room is in use for other activities on those days the group will meet at a table in the library.
Open Media Lab
The Media Lab at Central Library is a free space to explore digital media production in the realms of stop motion animation 3D world design green screen video audio design and graphic design. Drop in and explore the lab or work on projects with the expertise of our media lab staff. Lab Staff For Today: TBA Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The Bubbler and the Media Lab are supported by grants from Madison Public Library Foundations and The Friends of the Madison Public Library.
Dig-in to Maker Kit activities and explore hands-on artistic and creative tools for building creating and playing. Flex your tinkering brain muscles with new inventions problems and puzzles. For kids ages 7-12 supervised younger siblings welcome. Call the library for this week's activity.
Madison Writing Assistance: General and Job-Related Writing Help
Free one-on-one coaching sessions for writing projects of any kind including resumes and cover letters school assignments personal letters applications forms newsletters articles memoirs poems or any other kind of writing. Basic computer help such as setting up email accounts searching for jobs online or filling out online job applications is also available. Call 246-4547 in advance to sign up for a one-hour session. Madison Writing Assistance is a free service provided by the UW-Madison Writing Center and is made possible through the generous support of The Evjue Foundation the UW Anonymous Fund Altrusa International of Madison and the UW-Madison Writing Center.
Study Room 1
Lessons start promptly at 6 p.m. and last 45 minutes. Open game time runs from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. Chess club is open to all Ages and Skill levels (children under 8 years old need to be accompanied by an adult).
"First Monday First Person!" We will share and critique writing in the first person with like-minded people. Sign up upon arrival to read on a first-come first-served basis and receive group feedback. Listeners welcome as well as readers. Light refreshments served. Join us on the first Monday of every month (except when Monday is a holiday.)
