Free assistance from Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers to help you fill out and file your Federal and Wisconsin personal income taxes. Call 266-6350 to make an appointment (required). The VITA program is an IRS and Wisconsin DOR initiative designed to support free tax preparation service for the underserved. The VITA program offers free tax help to people who generally make $56 000 or less persons with disabilities the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. Some situations are outside the scope of the service -- ask if in doubt. You must have lived in Wisconsin for ALL of 2019 to use this service. **We will begin taking appointments on Wednesday January 22nd for the 2/1 and 2/8 tax help dates. We will take appointments for the rest of the dates (2/22 2/29 3/7 3/21 3/28 4/4) on February 12th. **

Learn about zines DIY zine culture and how making zines is a fun and accessible way to tell the unique story of your cultural heritage. Get inspired respond to drawing prompts and guided drawing exercises and make a zine to share your story! While you're downtown make sure to stop by Overture Center for the Arts to check out International Fest before or after making your zine.

Free one-on-one coaching sessions for writing projects of any kind including school assignments resumes and cover letters personal letters applications forms newsletters articles memoirs poems and absolutely any other kinds of writing. Appointments for writing assistance may be made the week of assistance. Call 266-6395 to make a 45-minute appointment. Due to high demand you are encouraged to call as soon as the library opens (Tuesdays at 10 a.m. or Saturdays at 9 a.m.) Madison Writing Assistance is a free service is provided by the UW-Madison Writing Center and is made possible through the generous support of the Evjue Foundation the UW Anonymous Fund Altrusa Internaional of Madison and the UW-Madison Writing Center.

Camp Kesem at UW-Madison's mission is to support children through and beyond a parent or guardian's cancer.  CKUW will be holding an informational session to inform families and friends about our mission and the free services we provide.  During this event, we will also be holding a volunteer service event with people of the CKUW community.  All are welcome to attend the informational session and help with the service project!
