2020 Census Applicant Days - Work for the Census!

Wednesday, Feb 26, 2:00pm to 6:00pm

April 1, 2020 is Census Day and only 1 month from now! The Census Bureau needs to hire a lot of Madison residents to ensure a complete count of everyone who lives here - especially people who will not initially participate by phone, mail, or website. Recruiters from the U.S. Census will be spreading awareness and helping people apply on the spot with Applicant Days. Following up with every missed individual requires the work of many Census Takers. It's a great part-time job that will pay $17-$23 an hour in Dane County. (ages 18 and up)

Madison Travel Circle presents "CHINA! Even more FABULOUS than I imagined…"

Community Room
Wednesday, Feb 26, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

China has been on my bucket list since elementary school 100 years ago. Last September, my dream came true. Two weeks of climbing the Great Wall, witnessing the Terra Cotta Warriors (even touched them!), exploring Beijing and Shanghai, seeing panda bears, cruising the Yangtze , and finally snarfing down totally mind-blowing Chinese food every day. Greatest Trip ever!

The Sketchbook: Philosophy, Practice, and Creative Play with Artist-in-Residence

The Sketchbook: Philosophy, Practice, and Creative Play with Artist-in-Residence

Bubbler
Wednesday, Feb 26, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

This two-part workshop is for anyone looking to develop or deepen a relationship with their sketchbook. Maybe you don’t consider yourself an artist but you have that creative itch, and yet ruining a blank page with a “terrible drawing” is paralyzing. Maybe you need a break from the creative work you do at your day job but want to find a process for personal creative play. In the first session we will make our own custom sketchbooks, look at sketchbook inspiration, and get comfortable "ruining" a blank page. The second session will include more sketchbook exercises, discussions about why we draw, and tools to help you cultivate a sustainable sketchbook drawing practice that can enrich your life!

***Those that register for this workshop will need to attend both dates (1/29 and 2/26). Only one registration required on 1/29 date, ages 16+
