Join us for a couple hours of needlework and casual conversation. Everyone is welcome!
Bring any stitching or hand projects (knitting, crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint).
Peer instruction and advice is possible.
If you wish, bring a snack to share with the group. Beverages will be provided.
This group will meet every Monday from 1:00-3:00 pm.
There will be a few days when the program room is in use for other activities, on those days the group will meet at a table in the library.

Witnessing Whiteness Workshop

Join us for a 10-week workshop based around the Book Witnessing Whiteness: The Need to Talk About Race and How to Do It by Shelly Tochluk, facilitated by Gera Raymond and Ruth Meyer.  This series is designed for white people to forward anti-racism work.  We will connect the book with dialog and experiential activities, by exploring the white experience.  

Goals of the series are to build a community with a shared understanding of privilege, whiteness, and racism; increase your ability to begin, support, and progress racial justice work; and
develop leadership capacity around issues of diversity, inclusion and race.

To really understand and ultimately address how whiteness affects racism, a strong commitment to attendance is required. Sessions 1 and 10 are mandatory. We ask that any absences are pre-planned; maximum number of absences is 2. At Session 1, we will ask you to let us know the dates you plan to miss, if any.   The series is limited to 25 participants. If you need accommoadtions to attend this program, please call 266-6385 or TDD# 266-6314 two weeks in advance.

A limited number of books will be available at Sequoya Library. Please read chapter 1 ("Naming the Problem") ahead of the first session.
