FIFTH FRIDAY – Poetry Reading Featuring Sandy Stark

FIFTH FRIDAY – Poetry Reading Featuring Sandy Stark

Meeting Room
Friday, Aug 30, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Alicia Ashman Library hosts a poetry reading every time there's a fifth Friday.
In August, join Sandy Stark, a local poet, who will share some poetry, and then host a poetry open mic. You'll also have the chance to purchase your own copy of her books. So come to listen; come to read; come to celebrate poetry!
Sandy Stark retired from teaching literature and communication skills in favor of serious birdwatching, native plant restoration, and writing more poems. She has two published collections, Counting on Birds (2010) and The Toolbox Poems (2015), owns better binoculars and shovels, and is finishing up a new collection about growing up in a military family, titled Home Base: Poems from a Military Brat.

Fabulous fun on a Friday night.

Community Room
Friday, Aug 30, 7:00pm to 8:45pm

Konohana Kitan is the heartwarming story of a new apprentice named Yuzu, and the other fox girls who work at a hot spring hotel called Konohatei. The staff at Konohatei live by one belief: no matter who one may truly be, no matter what, anyone who is a guest is a god. Of course, that includes you. Let the hospitality of Yuzu and the Konohatei heal your tired soul.

The Hawthorne Anime Club was created to give people a place to gather, watch, and talk about Japanese animation. Each meeting will include screenings of everything from classic titles to new releases. The club is aimed primarily at teens and adults. Films are shown in Japanese with English subtitles. Refreshments served at each meeting.

Call ahead to reserve your spot! People under age 16 who are interested in attending are required to have a parent present or to have a signed parental permission slip.
