Madison's Polish Heritage Club presents -- Kosciuszko: A Man Before His Time

Meeting Room
Sat, 02/02/2019 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

Feb. 4, 1746 marks the birth of the Polish and United States Revolutionary War hero, Tadesz (Thaddeus) Kosciuszko (1746-1817).

Based on the book The Peasant Prince and the Age of Revolution by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Alex Storozynski, this 54 min. PBS documentary brings history to life with dramatic readings and re-enactments filmed at West Point, Saratoga, Philadelphia and in Poland. (54 min.)

The story of Polish military leader Tadeusz Kościuszko, who fought with the Americans in the Revolutionary War. He stood up for the rights of enslaved Africans, indentured European serfs, Jews, Native Americans women, women and all who were discriminated against. His message of freedom and respect for all is just as important today as it was in the 18th century.

Display and refreshments provided by Madison‘s Polish Heritage Club. Madison Polish Heritage Club together with the Alicia Ashman Public Library present a movie for all to enjoy.
