Rock the Library Summer Reading Celebration @ Monroe Street Library

Finish your summer reading Bingo card this summer and earn a golden ticket to rock out at the library! Create a music video to your favorite song on your own or with your friends with our green screen or stop motion animation technology. Make props with us or bring your own costume for this one of a kind jam session.
Interested in suggesting a song for our Rock the Library Jukebox? Submit your suggestion via the link below
Please choose one Rock the Library session to attend. Call ahead to your library to add your name to the list for a half hour block of studio time or sign up for a spot on the day. If you are making a video with a sibling or a friend, you will only need to sign up for 1 spot. Make costumes, props, and practice your dance moves while you wait for your studio sesh.

Nutritious meals are offered to those 60 and older. The suggested minimum contribution is $4.00 per meal but participants are encouraged to pay what they can afford. If you are under age 60 and do not meet the nutrition program eligibility guidelines, you are required to pay the total cost of your meal which is $10.23. Transportation is available by a $1.00 donation round trip. The meal is served at noon and participants must arrive on time. Meal and bus reservations or cancellations should be made by noon the preceding business day by calling 238-7368 ext. 8

Artist-in-Residence, Liz Sexe will be dancing the scores/instructions you have left behind. Stop by and join in dance/interpretation with her!

Liz Sexe is a dance educator, performer and choreographer/artistic director of Liz Sexe Dance Company, established in 2014. In her processes, tasks inspire poetic movement, game theory finds logical, yet often unexpected phrasing, and athletic dancing is paired with deep intentionality. She also performs both regionally and nationally with Li Chiao-Ping Dance Company, Marlene Skog and Dancers and works with many local choreographers curating work.

Personal Archiving Lab Drop-In Tutorial

The Personal Archiving Lab at Central Library is a collection of equipment that can be used to digitize at-risk analog materials, like home movies, video tapes, audio cassettes, photographs, and more.

Stop by the Central Library every Tuesday or Thursday for a tutorial on how to use the library's Personal Archiving Lab, then make an appointment for your personal archiving project. Call 266-6350 for more information or to make an appointment.

The Personal Archiving Lab supports the following formats: VHS and VHS-C tapes, DVDs (not BluRay), audio cassettes, MiniDV and Hi-8 tapes, photographs (including negatives and slides), and other paper-based documents.

The Personal Archiving Lab is funded by a gift from Marvin J. Levy.

The Media Lab at Central Library is a free space to explore digital media production in the realms of stop motion animation, 3D world design, green screen video, audio design and graphic design. Drop in and explore the lab or work on projects with the expertise of our media lab staff.

Lab staff for today will be:

(6-8pm) Brett - Expertise in graphic design

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Synopsis: One sister trades self-respect for a wealthy husband while the other finds in the pages of a book a kindred spirit who changes her life. The janitor at the local school has his faith tested in an encounter with an isolated man he has come to help, and the adult Lucy Barton returns to visit her siblings after seventeen years of absence (excerpted from publisher).
