Leave this 3-day series having created your own video game level! During the camp attendees will use the Unreal Development Kit to create a fully interactive 3D game level. Attendees will work with a professional Game Designer to create every part of their level; from the sky and the ground to the various objects found in it. At the end of the camp, attendees will be able to play their level as well as the other levels created by peers during the camp. Games will be rated "T for Teen”.

Eating Smart-Being Active offers research-based information about nutrition, food safety and spending your food dollars wisely. It is a FREE program provided by the University of Wisconsin Extension Food WIse. Lessons focus on simple messages related to food and nutrition and give participants a chance to apply new information through interactive activities. Participation in this class requires households to have children/grandchildren 18 years of age and under.

Food will be made for sample tasting at each class!

Free one-on-one coaching sessions for writing projects of any kind, including resumes and cover letters, school assignments, personal letters, applications, forms, newsletters, articles, memoirs, poems or any other kind of writing. Basic computer help, such as setting up email accounts, searching for jobs online, or filling out online job applications, is also available.

Madison Writing Assistance is a free service provided by the UW-Madison Writing Center and is made possible through the generous support of The Evjue Foundation, the UW Anonymous Fund, Altrusa International of Madison, and the UW-Madison Writing Center.

West Wild Rumpus: An Anji Play experience

This program takes place at Haen Family Park (7702 Tree Ln). No program on July 4.

Enjoy play-centered, child led activities in the park each week, based on the educational approach of Anji Play. The library will provide special play equipment to spark your children's imagination. At the end of each event, kids will create a Play Story, drawing and/or writing about their play for that day. Wear messy clothes, bring a water bottle, (optional) bring a picnic dinner or purchase a meal from the "Let's Eat Out" local food carts, and make an evening of it!​ This event is created in partnership with the Madison Parks Division and AnjiPlay, and funded in part by a grant from the Madison Public Library Foundation.

Never edited Wikipedia before? No idea where to start or what to do? No problem - we've got you covered.

Attendees will view a tutorial on how to contribute to Wikipedia, and we'll have several experienced editors on-hand to answer questions and help with trouble-shooting.

All are welcome to come, pick up some skills, and add / improve whatever content they like ❤️.

Nope! Come anytime between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

We recommend bringing a laptop if you have one, but the library is also providing some for us to use, so don't let that stop you!

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

The library is fully accessible; there's nearby parking garages or street parking. Kids are 100% welcome :)

Drop in and make paper to be used in one of the collaborative projects we’ll be making during May and June, The Longest Book of the Shortest Stories. You’ll get wet and messy and learn how to turn fabric scraps and raw plant materials into sheets of paper to draw and write on. On these nights you’ll also have a chance to work on a collage, draw one of the objects in the studio, and create a custom pin for the other collaborative project, Dehiscence.
All ages, no experience required.
