Location: 442 Westgate Mall, Madison WI 53711. Next to TJMaxx in Westgate Mall. Thousands of books for sale each month. Most books are donations, some library withdrawls also for sale. Nonfiction titles are sorted by category for easy browsing. Fiction titles for all ages! CD and DVD selections as well. Bag sale (on selected items) starts at 2 pm.

Make a small stuffed creature of your own design, using recycled fabric! We’ll start with a few drawing exercises and then move into designing a pattern and sewing. Participants will leave with a completed or nearly completed stuffed animal. If possible, bring a small sewing kit and recycled fabric/old clothing. Please limit fabric to non-stretchy kinds! We’ll also have supplies available.

Registration is required for both children participants and their parents/guardians.
Ages 7-14, maximum 12 participants

Kids who lose reading skills over the summer will be two years behind their classmates by the end of 6th grade. The Friends of the Madison Public Library June book sale offers the perfect opportunity to encourage summer reading. The sale will feature a large selection of books for children and teens. Stop by the sale, and find the perfect summer vacation reading materials!

All current Friends of the Madison Public Library members get one free book. Renew your membership or join at the sale for this benefit.

This is a two day sale: Friday, June 15, 9am-6pm and Saturday, June 16, 9am-3pm. Saturday bag sale 12-3pm; $5 per bag.

Bring your fabulous self and celebrate diversity, differences, and imagination through fun, age-appropriate stories, songs, and activities with local drag performers.

Doors open at 10 am for crafts and facepainting; storytime at 10:30.

This program is intended for families with children of all ages, and grownups must be accompanied by a child. Storytime space is limited to the first 65 children and families. Crafts and facepainting available for everyone. ​

CANCELLED: Artist-in-Residence: Eric Adjetey Anang

CANCELLED: Eric Adjetey Anang is a Ghanaian sculptor and fantasy coffin carpenter. He was born in Teshie, Ghana, where he lived and ran the Kane Kwei Carpentry Workshop building custom coffins, a family tradition started by this grandfather. During his time in Madison as the Bubbler artist-in-residence, Eric will be interacting with the public through hosting workshops on woodworking with hand tools, while creating his next life-size wooden coffin in the library.

Individuals of all ages are welcome to visit the library and explore the craft of woodworking, try using a variety of different hand tools, and learn more about the sacred tradition of designer coffin making. Drop in during Eric's open studio times in the coming months. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Media Lab at Central Library is a free space to explore digital media production in the realms of stop motion animation, 3D world design, green screen video, audio design and graphic design. Drop in and explore the lab or work on projects with the expertise of our media lab staff.

Lab staff for today will be:
1-4 Michael- Expertise in film production/writing, and photoshop
2-4 Nate - Expertise in film production, editing, animation, game design, graphic design, and digital art.

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The Bubbler and the Media Lab are supported by grants from Madison Public Library Foundations and The Friends of the Madison Public Library.

Due to high demand, you are encouraged to call as soon as the library opens (Saturdays at 9 a.m.) This free service is provided by the UW-Madison Writing Center through the College of Letters & Sciences.
