In 2018, Music Theatre of Madison created a revue of musical theatre songs for women that didn't focus on falling in love.

Though it was only two years ago, 2018 was a different world. In the face of unprecedented challenge, womxn continue to set examples of greatness every day. In our effort as a company to expand understanding of musical theatre and look at the future of the art form, we commissioned ten Wisconsin song-writing teams (with at least one womxn on each) to work with ten local performers and create pieces about trailblazers; people who have defied the odds, broken the rules, and created new pathways for our world, historically and today. What resulted was Beyond the Ingenue: Trailblazers, a concert of songs about womxn that deserve entire musicals. Learn more at mtmadison.com
