September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and as your student begins his or her school year, don't forget about the one school supply that is free: a public library card. Children can get their first library card at any age, but many parents like to wait until a child is old enough to sign his or her own name. Stop in at any of our nine locations, fill out a brief application, and you're on your way to a world of free books, movies, muisic, research databases and more. All children who receive a public library card during the month of September will receive a small gift with their card. Parents can also take advantage of a free library card. All libraries offer evening and weekend hours for homework assignments and personal research, free computers and wireless access, and free educational and fun programs for children and adults. Madison Libraries also offer seasonal and free programs on internet safety, employment assistance, computer training, and tax assistance. If you don't have a library card, check us out. Parents receive a free gift, too!
Are you the proud parent of a young reader with a new library card? Read our letter to parents with information about our policies and your responsibilities. Or, view all of our circulation policies.
