Think you have what it takes to be Madison's Mario Kart champion?

Throughout the summer you'll have the chance to play in a qualifying round at a different library each week. The top FOUR players from each qualifying round will be invited to compete in the championship at the Central Library in downtown Madison on Wednesday, July 28th. [Rules for Tournament]

Registration is recommended and available online or by calling the specific library 2 weeks prior to the event.

Rules

  • Teens (grades 6 - 12)
  • 4 player races (1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1) + computer players
  • 150cc
  • Using the library's controllers only (Wii-motes - wheel or nunchuck optional)
  • Single Elimination
  • Top 2 players from each race will advance to the next race
  • Top 4 players from each library will advance to championship
  • Those who DO place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th at a qualifying round may NOT compete at another branch until the championship at Central Library
  • Those who DO NOT place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th at a qualifying round MAY compete at other branches throughout the summer.

* All 7 qualifying rounds will have 16 openings in the tournament bracket. Depending on the number of players that show up, each library's tournament may be run a little differently. If 16 people or fewer want to play, the tournament will begin right away. If more than 16 people want to play, the session will begin with multiple preliminary races where the top finisher will be guaranteed one of the 16 tournament spots.

 

Championship

The top FOUR players from each qualifying round compete for a trophy and bragging rights on Wednesday, July 28 at 5:00 p.m. at the Central Library.
